CVAG Objects to Mango Tree Application

CVAG have submitted an objection to the application, 20/00347/FUL, for 10 flats on the site of the old Mango Tree restaurant in Church Street. The applicant was originally granted permission for internal alterations to convert into 5 flats, which would have had minimal impact on the street scene. They subsequently partially demolished the building and sought permission “for safety reasons” to demolish before rebuilding “brick by brick” so that it looked the same but was stronger. It is therefore regrettable that they have failed to follow through on this commitment and are now seeking permission for a much larger building with 10 apartments on 4 levels. This would be a gross over-development and not in keeping with that location in a conservation area. The full text of our objection can be seen here.
